About the guides

# How our island guides are written

Last updated October 2026

Every guide is researched from the authorities and operators that set its facts, measured on our own map data, checked by a second review pass and dated. Where nobody publishes something a reader needs, such as how good the snorkeling is, the page gives our own read and says it is ours.

## Who writes them

Every guide is published by Virgin Islands Villas, and its byline says so. The research and the first draft are done with AI tools working from the pages of the National Park Service, the port and ferry operators, the government and the businesses themselves. A separate review pass then checks the draft against those sources and the house rules before it goes live, and the founder, who owns a house on St. John, oversees the guides and corrects them from first-hand knowledge of the island.

## How facts are checked

Fees, hours, parking, ferry times and closures come from the authority or operator that sets them, and the page dates them in the sentence. Drive and walk times are measured on our own map data, not copied from another site. Where no one publishes what a reader needs, such as how busy a beach gets or how good its snorkeling is, the page gives our own read, built from everything we read, and says it is ours. Prices and timetables are never estimated: the page prints the latest figure it found, with its date.

## How often pages are updated

Ferry, car-barge, airport and car-rental pages are reviewed at least every quarter and after any schedule change. Beach pages are reviewed once a year and after any named storm. Every guide shows an Updated date at the top; if that date is older than the cadence it was set for, the page is due and we treat it as such.

## What we do not do

- No filler written to fill a page. If there is nothing useful to add, the guide stays short.

- No affiliate links and no paid mentions in a guide’s words. Owners pay a flat fee a year to list a villa; a Featured listing can lead a page’s villa list, and its card says Featured.

- No invented villa facts. A villa page is written from what its owner tells us, and the owner can change it from their dashboard.

- No made-up reviews. Review summaries draw on reviews guests already left on other sites, and each is labeled with its source.

## Corrections

If something on a page is wrong, [write to us](https://virginislandvilla.com/contact) with the page and the fact. We correct it as soon as the fix is confirmed, and the page’s date moves with it.

## Questions people ask

**Who writes the guides?**

Virgin Islands Villas, and every page says so. Guides are researched and drafted with AI tools from what the authorities and operators publish, checked by a separate review pass, and overseen by the founder, who owns a house on St. John.

**How is a fact checked?**

Fees, hours, schedules and closures are read from the authority or operator that sets them, and dated on the page. Drive and walk times are measured on our own map data. Where nobody publishes a fact a reader needs, the page gives our own read and says so.

**How often are pages updated?**

Logistics pages at least every quarter and after any schedule change; beach pages once a year and after any named storm; guides on their own cadence, shown as the Updated date.

**Do you take money for placement?**

Not in the words of a guide. There are no affiliate links and no paid mentions. Owners pay a flat fee a year to list, and a Featured listing can lead a page's villa list, where its card says Featured.
