# St. Thomas restaurants and bars

St. Thomas restaurants sit in a few clusters, and the choice is mostly which one is near the house: Red Hook's marina on the East End, Charlotte Amalie and the hills above it, Frenchtown west of town, and the resort rooms on the East End and south shore. ## Where to eat in St. Thomas, by area

Red Hook carries the most rooms on this list, eight, around American Yacht Harbor and Red Hook Plaza, from sushi and Italian to a bar that opens before lunch. It is also where the St. John ferry leaves, so a dinner there suits a house on the East End.

Charlotte Amalie splits in two. Gladys' Cafe is a breakfast and lunch room in Royal Dane Mall and closes mid-afternoon; Sol at Mafolie and Island View Steakhouse are dinner rooms in the hills above the harbor. Havensight, where the cruise ships tie up, has an Agave and a Tap & Still.

Frenchtown has two rooms on this list, on the streets west of town, with Oceana in the old Villa Olga. The north side has The Shack across from the beach at Hull Bay. Further east the resort rooms at Secret Harbour, Cowpet Bay and Smith Bay take reservations by phone or online, and Bolongo Bay does the same on the south shore.

## Booking a table, and the one number for six rooms

Most dinner rooms here take reservations on their own sites or by phone. Two publish a fee for a no-show: Oceana charges $30 a person for a no-show or a same-day cancellation after noon, and Pangea $25 a person after 4pm, with a 20% gratuity added to the bill, as of October 2026.

Pesce, RAW, both Agaves, Sunset Grille and Caribbean Fish Market belong to the St. Thomas Restaurant Group, per their own sites, and publish one reservation line, (340) 714-7874, as of October 2026; name the restaurant when you call.

## The tradeoff: autumn closures and short lunch hours

The table is a snapshot, and late summer is when it moves. Oceana took its month off from August 30 to September 30, 2026. Pangea has been closed since August 30 and expects to return in the second half of October; call before you count on a table. Island View Steakhouse's booking calendar has been open again since early October. Each was read on the venue's own site on October 9, 2026.

The daytime rooms keep short hours all year: Gladys' Cafe stops at 3:30pm, Beach Buzz serves food until noon, and Twisted Cork shuts on weekends. A trip between late August and October, or a Sunday in Frenchtown, is worth a call ahead.

## St. Thomas nightlife, read from the hours

On their own published hours, the latest places on this list are the two Tap & Still bars, open to midnight, and Bolongo Bay, where the Oasis bar and Iggies both run to 11pm. In Red Hook, Duffy's Love Shack serves food until 10pm and lists no hour when the bar shuts. Most dinner rooms close their kitchens at 9 or 10pm. For a late night out, Red Hook has the most rooms within a walk of each other.

Pick the cluster nearest the house. Red Hook has the most choice around its marina; Charlotte Amalie has lunch in town and dinner in the hills; Frenchtown has two rooms west of town; the East End and Bolongo Bay resort restaurants take reservations by phone or online.

**What food is St. Thomas known for?**

The Department of Tourism names fungi, made of cornmeal and okra and served with oxtail stew, along with kallaloo, johnny cakes and pates. On St. Thomas it points to Gladys' Cafe for kallaloo soup.

**Are there Caribbean restaurants in St. Thomas?**

Yes. On this list, Gladys' Cafe serves Caribbean breakfast and lunch in Charlotte Amalie, Sol at Mafolie and 3 Palms put Caribbean dishes on a dinner menu, and Sunset Grille's menu is Latin Caribbean.
