## What airlines fly into St. Thomas?

Six airlines fly nonstop from the mainland US into Cyril E. King Airport, per the Virgin Islands Port Authority's list as of October 2026: American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue, Southwest Airlines, Sun Country and United Airlines. Between them they cover 14 US cities, and San Juan in Puerto Rico on JetBlue.

| Airline | Nonstop from | Season |

From the Virgin Islands Port Authority's airline list, checked October 9, 2026. The authority marks the whole list subject to change, so read the route on the airline's own schedule before you build a trip around it.

## Which nonstop routes run only Saturdays or in season

Three cities have a nonstop every day: Miami and New York JFK on American, Houston on United. Orlando on Southwest flies five days a week. Everything else on the mainland list is one flight on a Saturday, a seasonal route, or listed without days, and the Port Authority does not publish when the seasons start and end; the airline's schedule for your dates has that answer.

The tradeoff of a Saturday-only nonstop is the week between flights. If the Saturday flight from Newark or Charlotte is canceled, the next nonstop is seven days away, and the alternative is a connection.

## How long is the flight to St. Thomas?

Miami is the shortest nonstop from the mainland at about 1,100 miles, and Minneapolis the longest at about 2,450, by our measurement. The East Coast cities sit close together: Charlotte about 1,500 miles, Atlanta, Baltimore and Philadelphia about 1,600, New York JFK about 1,650, Boston about 1,700. Houston, Chicago and Dallas/Fort Worth run 2,050 to 2,200 miles.

We do not print flight times. The airline shows the scheduled time beside every flight when you search your dates.

## Connecting to St. Thomas through San Juan or a hub

If your city has no nonstop, connect where the daily flights start. Miami (American) and Houston (United) each send a flight a day on the Port Authority's list, New York JFK has both American and Delta, and Atlanta has Delta. San Juan is the other connection: 68 miles from St. Thomas, with JetBlue on the authority's list and Cape Air flying the route daily as of October 2026.

Time the connection to the ferry, not only to the flight: the boats to St. John stop in the evening, and a late first leg pushes the whole arrival past them.

## How to get to St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands

Most visitors fly: every mainland nonstop above lands at Cyril E. King Airport on the island's west end. The other two ways in are by sea. Cruise ships tie up at one of two piers on Charlotte Amalie harbor, Havensight on the east side or Crown Bay on the west, and the cruise port guide says which is which. From the British Virgin Islands, the ferry from Road Town or West End on Tortola lands at Charlotte Amalie or Red Hook, and that crossing needs a passport, or a passport card for a US citizen, both ways.

## Flying to the US Virgin Islands beyond St. Thomas

St. Thomas and St. Croix are the two US Virgin Islands with airports, and the Port Authority runs both. St. Croix's Henry E. Rohlsen Airport (STX) has fewer mainland routes: American from Miami daily and on seasonal Saturdays from Charlotte and Chicago, Delta from Atlanta, and United from Newark on a route the authority lists as new for the 2026 to 2027 winter; check United's schedule for its first flight. Between the two islands, Cape Air and Fly the Whale fly daily and Seaborne Airlines runs a daily seaplane from the Charlotte Amalie waterfront to Christiansted.

St. John has no airport. Everyone bound for St. John flies into St. Thomas and crosses by boat.

## From Cyril E. King Airport to St. John

The taxi from the airport to the Red Hook ferry takes 36 minutes on our measurement, longer on cruise-ship days, and the St. Thomas to St. John ferry leaves from there for Cruz Bay, with its own fares, first and last boats and a car barge beside it. Taxis at the airport are shared vans, and the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission's tariff, in force since October 2022, prices the ride to Red Hook at $23 for one rider or $17 each for two or more. Two shorter legs from the airport: Crown Bay Marina is 8 minutes away, with a few boats a day to Cruz Bay, and the ferry terminal in Charlotte Amalie is 12, at $11 for one rider or $9 each.

If you are staying on St. Thomas, the airport is on the west end of the island, so the drive to the house is part of the arrival. A flight that lands after dark is the one to plan around: the last ferry to St. John is the deadline, and a night on St. Thomas is the fallback.
