# Skyride to Paradise Point

The Skyride to Paradise Point runs from Havensight, across the road from the cruise dock, to the hilltop in about seven minutes; its operator puts the top 700 feet over the harbor. A round trip is $34.95 an adult as of October 2026, and it opens on most cruise-ship days only. Below: prices, the schedule, the view and the walk.

## How the Skyride to Paradise Point works

You buy a ticket at the window in Havensight or through your cruise ship, walk on, and ride a cabin up the hill. The operator sells no tickets in advance and takes no reservations, and it says the window does not sell out; it takes Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express and US dollars in cash, as of October 2026.

Each cabin holds up to eight people. The operator sets no age or weight limit, but riders 15 and under need an adult with them. The cable runs rain or shine and may stop for high wind or lightning. On the map the line climbs southeast from the base station to the top, about 640 meters in a straight line over six pylons, by OpenStreetMap. Most visitors stay at the top for 30 minutes to an hour and a half, by the operator's account, and you may stay as long as it is open.

## What you see from Paradise Point

From the top station the view runs west-northwest, straight back down the cable to Havensight. Measured on the map, the cruise dock is just under a kilometer away a little north of west, and Charlotte Amalie's waterfront is 2.2 km off to the west-northwest across the harbor, so the town and the ships fill the view.

The operator describes the view as historic downtown Charlotte Amalie, the harbor, and on a clear day Puerto Rico and St. Croix; its FAQ adds Vieques and Culebra. Its home page sells the Skyride on the view of the boats in the harbor, and the bearing explains why: the ships are the foreground.

## Food, drink and shops at the top

Taste at Paradise Point is the bar and restaurant, and the operator names the Baileys Bushwacker as its drink. Taste takes no reservations, and its kitchen closes 30 minutes before the last tram down, as of October 2026.

PRIME at Paradise Point is the evening restaurant, open nightly from 5 pm, with reservations by phone at (340) 690-2191 per the operator's FAQ. Souvenir shops and the Skywalk complete the top.

## How much is the Skyride in St. Thomas?

$34.95 for an adult and $24.95 for a child, round trip, per the Skyride to Paradise Point's FAQ as of October 2026. Locals and cruise crew ride for $15.

| Round trip | Price |
| --- | --- |
| Adult | $34.95 |
| Child | $24.95 |
| Local | $15 |
| Crew | $15 |

The operator publishes no free age and no one-way fare, and it does not say what counts as proof of being a local, so ask at the window. A couple pays $69.90. A cruise line may sell the same ride at its own price; the figures here are the operator's.

## Is the Skyride open on the day you are here?

Only if the schedule says so. The operator opens most ship days, usually at 9 am, sets the hours day by day around the cruise calls and the weather, and posts each month's schedule in the last week of the month before. The last tram down leaves an hour after the listed close, and maintenance closures are announced ahead.

Check the operator's schedule for your dates. As an example, here is the schedule we read in October 2026, on the 9th; it ran to October 19 and printed no year:

| October | Hours |
| --- | --- |
| 1 to 5 | Closed |
| 6 | 10 am to 4 pm |
| 7 | 9 am to 5 pm |
| 8 | 9 am to 2 pm |
| 9 to 12 | Closed |
| 13 | 9 am to 4 pm |
| 14 | 9 am to 1:30 pm |
| 15 and 16 | Closed |
| 17 | Marked for the Paradise Point road race |
| 18 and 19 | Closed |

In that October, five open days in nineteen. A villa guest without a ship has to plan around the cruise calendar, and on a day with no ship in, the top is closed.

## How far is the Skyride from the cruise pier?

From the Havensight dock it is across the road: the operator places the base station in Havensight, across from Port of Sale and Wendy's, and calls it about a 10-minute walk from the West Indian Company dock (WICO). We have not measured that walk, so this page gives no minutes of its own.

From the Crown Bay cruise terminal it is about 3 miles, by the operator's estimate, and the operator suggests a taxi.

Access is the operator's own caveat: its FAQ answers no on handicap access and points to its contact page. A guest using a wheelchair should write to the operator before the day rather than find out at the window.

## Can you ride the Skyride at sunset?

The operator does not say. Its pages give no evening tram times and nothing about sunset. On the October schedule we read, the latest listed close was 5 pm on the 7th, so the last tram down that day left at 6 pm. The mid-October sunset, on the 15th, is 5:57 pm per the US Naval Observatory's 2026 figures for Charlotte Amalie, and the 15th was a closed day.

The lookout's west-northwest view lines up most closely with the summer sun, which sets as far round as 295° in June by the solar equations of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), against 245° in December. PRIME at Paradise Point, the restaurant at the top, opens every night at 5 pm per the operator, which does not say how diners reach it after the trams stop; ask when you book.

## Paradise Point or Mountain Top?

They face different ways and keep different days. Paradise Point is 700 feet over the harbor, looks west-northwest to town and the ships, and opens on most ship days. Mountain Top, on St. Peter Mountain, keeps the same hours every day of the week on its site as of October 2026, closing at 5 pm, and looks the other way, east over Magens Bay to St. John and the British Virgin Islands. Its site puts the deck 1,500 feet above Magens Bay.

On a cruise day from Havensight, the Skyride is the one you can walk to. On a villa week, Mountain Top keeps the more reliable hours.
