# US Virgin Islands vacation rentals

Compare US Virgin Islands vacation rentals on St. John and St. Thomas side by side, each at the owner’s own nightly rate, then write to the owner about your dates.

## 1 villa across the US Virgin Islands

St. John is almost 58 percent national park, per the National Park Service, and reached by ferry; St. Thomas is the larger island, with the airport. Owners and managers list their houses here at their own rates, before tax, with no guest service fee. The tradeoff: fewer houses than a booking site, and no St. Croix yet.

## How booking direct works

You pay the owner, not a platform. No service fee. Here is what happens after you send an inquiry.

1. 01

  You write to the owner

Send your dates and who is coming from the villa page. It goes straight to the person who owns the house.

2. 02

  They confirm the price

The nightly rate you saw is theirs; they confirm it for your dates with the tax and any cleaning fee, and the house rules.

3. 03

You pay the owner, not us

However they take it. This site never charges you and never holds your money.

## Booking US Virgin Islands vacation rentals direct: your questions

**St. John or St. Thomas: which island should I rent on?**

St. Thomas if you want the airport close and the restaurants of Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook a short drive away. St. John if the national park’s beaches are the point of the trip and a ferry crossing each way is a fair price for them.

**Do I pay a booking fee for a US Virgin Islands rental here?**

No. The owner’s rate plus the territory’s room tax and any cleaning fee is the whole bill. On Airbnb the same guest would pay a service fee of 14.1% to 16.5% of the subtotal, per its help page as checked September 19, 2026.

**Is St. Croix on this page?**

Not yet. The directory covers St. John and St. Thomas today, and the British Virgin Islands have a page of their own.

**Are the owners’ rates before or after tax?**

Before. The territory’s hotel room tax goes on top, and the owner confirms the total for your dates, cleaning fee included, before any money changes hands.
