We own a house on St. John. Indo House sits on the water in Great Cruz Bay, and we manage it ourselves: the calendar, the greeting at the ferry, the reply to every note. Most of the villas on these islands are run the same way, by the person whose name is on the deed or by a small local manager who knows the house.

The booking sites do not show you that person. They put a service fee on top, a payment window in between, and a message box that strips out phone numbers. The owner pays a commission on the other side. Everyone pays for the middle, and nobody gets to talk.

This site is the directory we wanted to exist. Every villa is listed by its owner or manager. The rates are theirs. The calendar is read from their own booking system every day. You write to them, they write back, and if you agree the dates you pay them directly, however they take it. We never touch the money and never take a percentage.

Owners pay a flat fee a year for a listing, or list for free. That is the whole business. It means we have no reason to push a villa that is wrong for you, and no reason to hide the owner from you.

We verify what we can. The mark on a listing means we have seen the deed or the licence and looked at the house. Reviews come from the sites where guests already left them, summarised honestly, with the caveats left in.
