Anegada restaurants and bars

On Anegada, dinner is spiny lobster grilled to order, and the order goes in by afternoon or not at all. Lunch is eaten on the north-shore beaches, and dinner mostly at Setting Point, by the dock on the south shore. It is a meal for people who stay the night, since the ferry sails only a few mornings a week.

When to book an Anegada lobster dinner

Book the dinner, and the lobster with it, by the afternoon. The kitchens cook what has been ordered, because the catch is brought in for the evening's bookings, and each sets its own hour. The Anegada Reef Hotel at Setting Point, opened in 1976 by Lowell and Vivian Wheatley and run now by their children, wants the booking by 4 pm and grills the lobster over local torchwood at two evening seatings. The Anegada Beach Club takes dinner bookings until 5 pm.

Big Bamboo at Loblolly Bay is a lunch place that does dinner only by arrangement, by phone or on VHF channel 16, with the ride there and back included. Potter's by the Sea, Neptune's Treasure and the Cow Wreck Beach Bar take lobster orders too; none of the three publishes a page of its own, so they are not in the table.

Where are the restaurants on Anegada?

Mostly in two places: Setting Point on the south shore, by the dock, where the Anegada Reef Hotel serves dinner, and the north-shore beaches, where lunch is eaten on the sand. The Anegada Beach Club, on its own beach away from the dock, does both, serving lunch through the afternoon and taking dinner bookings until 5 pm. Loblolly Bay, where Big Bamboo serves until six, is 22 minutes from the Setting Point dock by our measurement, on sand roads that want a jeep, and Cow Wreck Beach is closer. The Anegada Reef Hotel puts a whole lobster on its lunch menu too. Plan the day as a beach lunch, then dinner wherever you booked it by the afternoon.

The tradeoff: the ferry calendar and the afternoon call

Anegada's dinners belong to people who stay the night. The ferry from Road Town sails at 7 am three days a week in alternate fortnights, on the operators' timetable, so a day visitor has no evening here. Miss the afternoon call and the lobster is not cooked. The Lobster Festival, November 27 to 29, 2026 on the BVI Tourist Board's page, fills the island's tables for a weekend; book those nights first.

Questions about Anegada restaurants and bars

Do you have to order lobster in advance on Anegada?

For dinner, yes. The Anegada Reef Hotel requires the dinner reservation by 4 pm the same day and the Anegada Beach Club by 5 pm, as of October 2026, because the kitchens cook what has been booked. Big Bamboo at Loblolly Bay serves lunch to walk-ins and does dinner only by arrangement.

How much is lobster on Anegada?

At the Anegada Reef Hotel, a whole grilled lobster was $65 and a half $45 at dinner, and a whole one $60 at lunch, on its menus read in October 2026, with an 18% service charge added to every bill. The Anegada Beach Club, whose dinner mains run $27 to $45 with a 15% charge, prints no lobster price.

Which Anegada restaurants are in the Lobster Festival?

The BVI Tourist Board's festival page said in October 2026 that the participating restaurants would be announced later; the festival runs November 27 to 29, 2026. Book a room and the ferry first, then the dinners.
