Staying in Nazareth

Most people meet Estate Nazareth as an address before they meet it as a place. The Secret Harbour Beach Resort gives its address as 6280 Estate Nazareth, the St. Thomas Yacht Club as 6224 and the Club Wyndham Elysian Beach Resort, a timeshare, as 6800, each on its own page as of October 2026. So a booking confirmation that says Estate Nazareth can mean a hillside house, a resort condo or a timeshare week, and it is worth asking the owner which. Our area map, built on the US Census Bureau's estate boundaries, files the houses on the slopes between Red Hook and Secret Harbour here; the resort's bay has a page of its own.

Most stays here run on a rental car. The ground around the middle of Nazareth measures rolling, and from there Charlotte Amalie is 24 minutes by car and Cyril E. King Airport 38. Red Hook is next door, with shops, restaurants, a grocery store and the St. John ferry, and the Secret Harbour Beach Resort calls it a five-minute taxi ride. The same resort advises against walking it, as of October 2026: the roads are narrow and hilly, with blind spots and no sidewalks. Its FAQ also reminds drivers that St. Thomas drives on the left, with little signage. For a day on St. John, the last passenger ferry back is 10 pm from Cruz Bay, per the Department of Public Works as of September 2026. The operator, Transportation Services of St. John, runs an off-season timetable through the late summer and early fall, usually until the end of October, so check its page for the week you cross.

Secret Harbour Beach is the reason most people look at this corner, and it is 2 minutes by car from the middle of the area. The beach is free with no day pass, and The Patio at Sunset Grille on the sand is open to the public, per the resort as of October 2026. Vessup Beach, 3 minutes away on the bay east of the Red Hook terminal, is the undeveloped one, with no restroom or food on the sand. Sapphire Beach is 7 minutes, Bolongo Bay 10 and Coki Beach 11, all measured from the same point, and Magens Bay on the north shore is 26.

Living next to a resort beach is not the same as sharing its amenities. The Secret Harbour Beach Resort's FAQ keeps the condominium parking for its own guests and says day visitors may not use it, and the loungers, umbrellas, towels and pool are guests' only; a villa guest brings a towel and rents a chair from the watersport stand at the end of the beach, or arrives by taxi. An evening in Charlotte Amalie means 24 minutes on the road each way. In return Nazareth puts a swim within a few minutes of the house, which is most of what a St. Thomas week on this end of the island is for.

Settle the airport run before you arrive. The resort says most of its own guests come and go by taxi. On the Virgin Islands Taxicab Commission's tariff in force since October 2022, that taxi is $27 for one person or $18 each for two or more from the airport to the resort, the Elysian or Cowpet Bay, and $23 or $17 each to Red Hook next door, plus $3 a bag.

Suits a quiet week built on short drives: Secret Harbour for the swim, Red Hook for groceries and the ferry, and town only when there is a reason.

In Nazareth, a unit at Club Wyndham Elysian Beach Resort or in one of the condominium complexes is a question for its manager about backup power, and a private house is one for its owner, who will also know how full the cistern runs.
