Charlotte Amalie restaurants keep two shifts. The passages off Main Street serve breakfast and lunch and mostly close by mid-afternoon; dinner and the late bars are at Yacht Haven Grande, the marina east of town, and in two hotel dining rooms in the hills. Where to eat in Charlotte Amalie, by hour
Choose by the hour before the cuisine. For breakfast or lunch, the passages off Main Street hold Gladys' Cafe in Royal Dane Mall, which opens at 8am, and Amalia Cafe's Spanish terrace on Palm Passage. Above them, Jolly Roger's pours by the pool at Blackbeard's Castle from 9am to 9pm. No ticket is needed to eat or drink there, per its own page; Blackbeard's Castle charges $15 per person for the pool and the tower, as of October 2026.
For dinner, walk or drive east to Yacht Haven Grande. Six of the thirteen are at the marina: Indigo 4 and St. Thomas Social for a booked dinner, 13 Restaurant for Creole cooking, Thali for roti and curry, Java Grande for coffee from 6:30am, and The Box Bar until 2am at weekends. Next door at the Havensight Mall, Agave and Tap & Still sit by the cruise dock. Sol at Mafolie and Island View Steakhouse are hotel dining rooms on the hill north of town, a short drive up.
From the Havensight cruise dock, the drive to the downtown ferry terminal measures 12 minutes.
The tradeoff: a lunch town after 4pm
Downtown empties early. Gladys' Cafe closes at 3:30pm, 3pm on Sundays, and in the passages, only Amalia Cafe serves past 4pm, Monday to Saturday; Jolly Roger's, up the hill, runs to 9pm. An evening in Charlotte Amalie is an evening at the marina or up the hill, not in the passages.
The autumn moves the list, too. St. Thomas Social was on its fall break when we read its site on October 9, 2026, and expects to be back late in the month; confirm with the restaurant before you plan a dinner around it. Island View Steakhouse's booking calendar has taken tables again since early October 2026. Frenchtown, west of the harbor, has its own page.

Eight on this list take a booking, as of October 2026. Amalia Cafe books by phone, Sol at Mafolie through OpenTable on its own page, and Indigo 4 and 13 Restaurant by phone or online.
