Leverick Bay beach on Virgin Gorda
Leverick Bay beach is a small strip of sand on Virgin Gorda's North Sound, in front of the resort and beside its marina, with beach bars, a pool and a water sports desk at its back. The water is sheltered. The catch is its size: this is a beach for a dip and a drink, shared with the boats.
Conditions: Sheltered inside North Sound: the bay opens north-northwest toward Mosquito Island, which takes the winter swell before it reaches the sand, by our read of the map. Boats, dinghies and jet skis use the bay. No lifeguard.

What sits behind the sand at Leverick Bay
Leverick Bay's beach is the front lawn of a small resort village. The sand runs along the water below the resort's painted buildings, with the marina's docks on one side and the hill of villas rising behind. At its back are The Cove, the resort's seaside and poolside restaurant, and Jumbies Beach Bar, open 11 am to 9 pm every day and closing at 5 pm on Fridays, by the resort's dining page as of October 2026. The Restaurant at Leverick Bay is upstairs for dinner; its own dining site posted a fall closure in October 2026, so call before you plan on it.
The resort's freshwater pool sits just behind the beach. Its site invites you to spend the day there but does not say whether day visitors may, so ask at the front desk before you settle in. The bars' and the resort's restrooms serve their customers; there is no public block.
Swimming in the calm of North Sound
This is the easy swim on the north of the island. The bay opens north-northwest toward Mosquito Island, inside North Sound, and the island and the sound's reefs take the winter swell long before it reaches the sand, by our read of the map, so the water stays flat when the north-facing beaches are closing out.
The tradeoff: it is a harbor as much as a beach. Dinghies come and go from the marina, and the water sports desk runs jet skis in the bay, so keep the swim close to the sand and watch for boats. We rate the snorkeling 2 of 5: sand and a few fish. For a reef from the sand, drive west to Long Bay or Mahoe Bay; for the sound's reefs, rent a boat here or take one out.
Renting kayaks and boards at Leverick Bay
Blue Rush Water Sports works from the bay itself, by the resort's things-to-do page as of October 2026: Hobie rentals, paddleboards, body boards, clear-bottom kayak tours, jet skis, tubing and flyboarding. It also delivers kayaks and paddleboards free to most houses on the island for a renter staying near a beach, which suits a villa on the Nail Bay or Mahoe hillsides. Bradley Powerboats rents dinghies and boats, the simplest way to the sound's reefs and the beaches across it, and the resort also lists SNUBA trips. None of these prices are posted on the resort's pages, so ask at the desk.
The Friday barbecue on the sand
Friday night is when the beach is busiest, and it is why the beach bars close at five. The resort's Friday Night Beach BBQ sets up on the sand: a buffet from 6:30 to 9:30 pm, a live band from 7 to 11 pm and the Moko Jumbies, the stilt dancers, from 8 to 8:30 pm, by the resort's dining page as of October 2026. Reservations are required and the price is not published, so call ahead to confirm.
Leverick Bay beach suits a party staying on North Sound who want a swim, a drink and a boat within a short walk, and the one night of the week the island comes to them. For a long beach day, Savannah Bay is the better sand.
