Virgin Islands webcams, Soggy Dollar Bar to Cruz Bay
A webcam shows what a forecast cannot: whether sargassum is on the sand this week, whether swell is breaking on the point, how busy the beach is at the hour you would arrive, and the weather now. These are the public cameras across the Virgin Islands, from the Soggy Dollar Bar webcam on Jost Van Dyke to Cruz Bay.

How to read a beach cam before you book
Check the clock first: the islands keep Atlantic Standard Time all year, per time.gov, an hour ahead of New York in winter and level with it in summer, so the crowd on the feed is the island's hour, not yours.
Then read the edges of the frame. Brown mats along the tide line are sargassum, and a camera shows whether it is on that beach this week, which a forecast map cannot. White water on the point is swell, and on a north-facing beach it decides between snorkeling and the sand. Count the boats on the moorings and the people on the beach at the hour you would arrive. A camera is one beach at one moment; the next bay may be clear.
Why a camera goes dark
Every camera here belongs to a bar, a resort, a rental villa, a charity or a camera company. A storm can stop the picture, often when you most want it. A business closed for the season may leave its camera on an empty bar or switch it off: Lime Out usually closes from mid-August to mid-October, by its own site as of October 2026. A sale or a new website can drop a camera without notice, and lists go stale: the National Park Service's webcams page was last updated June 6, 2022. We date each link, and a camera whose page stops showing a picture comes off.
Which islands have a webcam
St. John has the most, and four of them look at Cruz Bay: the Beach Bar, the Blind Donkey, Grande Bay Resort and the brewery. Coral Bay has the community council's camera and Lime Out's, and Lovango Cay has the resort's dock. On the North Shore the Friends of Virgin Islands National Park's camera on Windswept Point looks east over Cinnamon, Maho and Francis bays. Thirteen more are rental villas' cameras, from the hillside over Cruz Bay to Long Bay on the East End.
On St. Thomas the harbor is covered from the port and from the top of the island, with Sapphire Beach, Lindbergh Bay and Honeymoon Beach on Water Island. In the British islands: White Bay from the Soggy Dollar Bar, North Sound from Saba Rock, Scrub Island's marina village and a house on Cooper Island.
